Start up, pain and irony
This week I have been suffering from a horrible tooth ache and what is probably some sort of infection. This is the only reason I’ve finally decided to go out and get insurance for myself. I think if you are running a small business, insurance will probably be your highest cost center. When I first looked around for insurance for the company it was ranging from $350-$450 per individual per month! This makes me not want to hire full time employees. Luckily most cities have subsidized insurance for small businesses and self employeed individuals that can cut that rate by as much as %50. In NYC its MOHIA. It’s been a painful experience searching for a good deal.
I went looking for a line of credit for SecurityLab and discovered most banks will only offer you a line of credit if your company has been in business for more then 2 years. So two dorment companies I own that are 2+ years old but doing nothing at all, and making no money, have a better chance of obtaining a line of credit then SecurityLab which is one year old and making money. Its a really weird system. The line of credit is meant to help establish the companies credit history but I will have to wait 2 years before I can even try? Insane.

It’s similar to a college grad looking for his/her first full-time job. The company can’t hire you because you have no experience. But how can I get experience if all companies require work experience?

Ejovi, you think that’s expensive? Since I started my consulting gig, I too went around looking for health insurance coverage for my family. So far, I’ve found between $600-$1000 for family coverage.

Massachusetts has MassHealth, or something like that. You might want to check that out.
