Moving again?
UPDATE: I’ve just returned from a business trip to San Francisco, California. Tomorrow I go to Boston and on the 6th I’m in Atlanta.
Until recently I was living in Boston where I worked with two startups, studied for a short time at Harvard then founded my own company. Before that I was living in Japan. But now I’m back in NYC and I love it. I love finally being around my family. I visit my grandmother and my uncle every weekend. My younger brother works with me. I have my favorite coffee shop and my favorite coffee truck.
However now it looks like I will be moving again. This time to Silicon Valley the tech capital of the world. While in San Francisco I met with Mike Moritz who is considered by many to be the best venture capitalist in the world. The plan is to work out of the Sequoia offices with access to Mike Moritz and Mark Kvamme and all of the other geniuses there. It will be interesting to experience the west coast of America and San Francisco isn’t all that bad. I doubt I will want to live there long term but this will be a good experience. And I plan on flying back into NYC once a month.
Family is important to me. I think without family grounding I risk going insane. Its important to have a solid foundation before building. For me this means staying connected to my family. Now the greatest challenge is not adjusting to a new home but staying connected to my old one.

That’s great news. I’m sure you will love it in CA. Sounds like you are taking a great positive risk with your career. I’m in SF quite a bit myself so be sure to keep us updated on any conferences you’ll be attending, and hopefully i’ll catch up with you sometime.

Welcome to Ca your going to love it here. I know its hard to be away from your Family i had to work nights from
1am to 7am and would sleep most of the
day when i was home. I did this for 2
years because i cared for my family.
Sometimes we have to look at the long term goals and how they fit into our
plans for the family. i almost lost my
family when i was young because i was a workaholic i steped back an made plans to budget time for them and work hard on my time and focused my time with my family. I have been married for 28 year now i and glad that i stopped to smell the roses when i did. I know i wouldn’t be married now if i didn’t review my priorities. From reading your post i can see you care alot about peope you will go far but remember you and your
family first.
welcome again to California Best Wishies

You should be disappointed to find companies like AdBrite and PodShow in Kvamme’s portfolio. He does not understand the industry and does not invest in real movers and shakers — it almost seems he’s afraid and uncertain based on the companies he’s chosen. Moritz is quite a contrast.
For lively chat, drive down Sandhill Rd. to downtown Palo Alto on University Ave. The valley is full of thriving start ups with real technology and creative ideas — we’ve finally realized how to succeed.
Enjoy your stay.

I just to moved to San Jose a few months back. It is a great place to live but not easy to meet people. Good luck with the startup.
