gather.at

gather.at

gather.at is a new social network I’m developing. It’s an idea that I’ve been thinking about for a long time. Based mainly on my experiences in Japan and the way social groups are organized there. Then there are my overall opinions about why online social networks, especially those used for dating…are, well…sucky. But I’ll save those opinions for another day.

The gather.at concept is to build a social network that encourages people to meet in person. I’m funding the project and don’t have any plans to make it a business right now. Its really one of those things that I really want to use. I want it, there is nothing like it, so I’ll make it. Michael, the lead developer has applied to launch it at Supernova in June which means the beta will be ready by June. But you should sign up for gather.at here to be one of the early beta testers.

I’ll post more as things develop.

Great idea, Ejovi. I guess you would have noticed by now that I read your blog regularly. I do this mainly because I have read your book and have always liked personalities like yourself. I would be the first one to spread the word on the west coast once it is launched in june. Let me know if I can be of any help. Good luck!!
